wow, Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant

I’m a little bit speechless but, Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney Spears’ little sister and 16 year old star of the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101 is pregnant.

According to an interview with OK! Magazine, the father is Spears’ ‘longtime’ boyfriend, 19 year old Casey Aldrich. I’m not quite sure what constitutes ‘longtime’, but I’m positive it’s not long enough to be having a kid.

Spears is 12 weeks along and initially kept the news to herself when she learned of the pregnancy from an at-home test and subsequent doctor visit, she told the celebrity magazine, which hits stands in New York on Wednesday and the rest of the country by Friday.

“As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn’t tell anybody,” she says. “Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me.”

Let’s just hope she is more like K-Fed than Britney.

On a related note, this latest Spears drama was enough to anger the gods of irony. After the implosively terrible year of parenting exhibited by Britney Spears, mother Lynne Spears actually had a book deal and was in the process of writing a book on parenting. That was ironic enough to make my head explode. However the book deal was dropped by the publisher shortly after the announcement about Jamie Lynn.
