When a Family of Six is Sick
Well, lately we have all been sick. It is tough when all six of you come down with a nasty flu of some sort. We are lucky not to get hit with the same type of flu we had last year. But, there are two ways we usually get hit with the flu. We either all get nailed with it at once, which was the case last year, or you all take turns one after another just wondering when it will be your turn.
Of course I wouldn’t want either type of flu but I think I would much rather have the kind that hits us one at a time. As a family we can help the person who is currently sick. Last year this was not the case. We got nailed with the flu all at once and in the middle of the night my wife and I were cleaning up everybody’s puke from their beds. Very nasty. We were doing loads of laundry piled with sheets, blankets, and pillow cases at 2:30 in the morning. In between cleaning up vomit, putting on clean sheets, and trying to comfort our kids we were taking trips to the bathroom ourselves vomiting up our own nastiness.
Now that you have that image in your head, I would much rather have us all sort of line up and take turns. The biggest downfall with taking turns is it could be 10 days - 2 weeks before everybody is feeling well again and the flu has finally left the house. Because of this we cannot let any other family or friends around.
Looks like others are feeling sick too…
Anybody else experience this? Do you have a big family?

I feel for you. We have had a couple colds already this year. The first two started with one kid and then about every 18 hours a new person caught it with me always being the last.
Last week the kids both caught a little big, but fortunately my wife and I escaped.
My only advice. Lock everybody in their room and tell them not to come out until they are no longer sick.
Good luck.

Oh, that sounds bad. And all of you together. On top of feeling sick must be the feeling of concern for your children because they are down with it! We only have one, and she had been a little wheezy with a cough over the last few days. It’s all we can think about. (Getting better now.)
So, with four, and a fifth on the way? Hats off to you.

We seem to be taking turns. First, my daughter and her Christmas Eve explosion, then my wife got a bad sinus infection, then me with my fever and muscle aches. Now my son is starting to cough!
The one week of the year when we really needed to rest up. Oh well.

Yeah, ‘Tis the season’ right.
Looks like we aren’t the only ones who are feeling sick right now.

Everyone around here has been sick except for me. I’m not sure how I got so lucky, except that I have been sick several times this year. I told my husband that someone had to be well to take care of everyone. I don’t know if you have any family there to help you out, but we have no one here and it gets pretty tough to deal with when we’re all sick. Last year my mom and dad had to come visit for a few days because my son and daughter were very sick and my husband had a concussion. We were a mess. We got through it, somehow. I hope you all are feeling better!
