Here is a recap of the child-related product recalls from the Consumer Product Safety Commission between 4/13/08 and 4/20/08. All things considered, it was a relatively light week for child product recalls. Interestingly, one of the two CPSC recalls was a voluntary recall by Walmart, independent of the manufacturer.

The New York Times reports that there are yet more problems with lead levels in Chinese-manufactured toys.
“Amid a fresh wave of toy recalls yesterday, a consumer advocacy group said it had found hazardous levels of lead in many toys made out of vinyl plastic, potentially expanding the scope of testing and recalls of contaminated toys.

Over at Chief Family Officer there is a post about Mattel in light of all the recent toy recalls. Apparently Mattel failed to report potentially hazardous toy defects.
