Inside Fatherhood

Random thoughts of a new father

by Bill on December 12th, 2007

- I have lost complete track of days of the week, and I absolutely love it.

- When I hugged my wife today I realized it had been months since I was able to fit my arms around her. I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

- My son is a poop machine. A highly efficient, gas-propelled poop machine.

- The first few days of caring for an infant have been the most rewarding, yet most trying of my life.

- Everyone says the baby looks like me, but I don’t see it.

- I now sing popular songs to my son to calm my son while changing his diaper, rewritten to include the terms poop and diaper. My latest masterpieces included the theme songs to Spider Man (now ‘diaper man’), Golden Girls and The Family Guy, as well as the Winnie The Pooh (poop) song.

- I have started growing a beard, for no particular reason other than not having to shave for work.

- Much more of my life revolves around poop than I ever thought it possibly could.

Your post takes me back to when my oldest was born, only I think I was in much worse shape. You sound like you’re doing wonderfully! I love the idea of the Diaper Man song - made LOL since my oldest likes Spiderman and we sing the theme song all the time.

Hey, I also stopped shaving since my baby was born.

    Congratulations.
