Peel and stick wall stickers!
I made a great find recently while at a trade show in New York. I was walking across the Jacob Javitz Convention Center when I chanced upon the awesomeness that is RoomMates peel and stick wall stickers. (Technically they’re referred to as appliques or wall decor, but stickers sounds cooler.) I stopped dead in my tracks, I needed these things.
Basically, the RoomMates are self-adhesive, re-stickable, non-wall-screwing-up stickers (that part was key for me) for your kids’ walls. I bought a few for my son and a few for my niece and nephew. They have a range of designs, from basic alphabet stickers to sports teams and movie heroes. I was tempted to go with a big Iron Man because the movie rocked, but I ended up with the alphabet, planes, dinosaurs and jungle animals.

This weekend we started putting up the alphabet stickers around the periphery of his room, and they look even better once applied. Each letter has a scene depicting an object which begins with that letter, drawn in a very classic style. The letter ‘T’ is in the shape of a tree, with leaves. ‘V’ is a violin with a bow and covered in sheet music. ‘X’ is an x-ray screen exposing the bones of the letter. The colors are great, the illustrations are clever and I love how they look on the walls.
It’s a great finishing touch to a kids room or a rec room. The ones I picked sold for $13.49 and I think are well worth the money. You can find and buy them online at http://www.roommatespeelandstick.com/

They’re not just for kids! I’m coming up on the big 6-0. I had never seen these products, but for Christmas my daughter-in-law got me a set of Penn State wall stickers (http://www.roommatespeelandstick.com/WallDecor/Penn-State-Nittany-Lions-Appliques__RMK1055SCS.aspx). I’m a big college football fan. She also got my wife some country stickers(www.roommatespeelandstick.com/WallDecor/Pat-Fishers-Country-Holidays-Appliques__PJ2001SCS.aspx). We’ve had fun using them in a various rooms in the house. It’s amazing that they don’t leave any gunk on the walls and you can move them all around and they still stick.
