Parents of unvaccinated students threatened with jail time
The state of Maryland is cracking down on unvaccinated kids in their school system. Their brilliant approach is to threaten jail time to the parents of those kids.
Parents in Prince George’s County have been ordered to appear at a special court hearing today where they will be given a choice: Get their children vaccinated on the spot or risk up to 10 days in jail and fines.
Does this sound strange to anyone else?

We don;t vaccinate.
It does not sound strange in that parents are being forced to give up thier rights to decide what is best for their own families one right at a time.
I have to be careful because my soapboxes and many. :)

I was just about to write about this on my autism blog. This just burns me! There is not reason (and no law) that says a school district can do this. Legally, (and as far as I know) a student has the medical and religious right to say no to vaccinations.
My son does not do well with them and I don’t make him get the flu vac, and several others that are not mandated. Others…not sure about yet. He has already had all the required ones but I am not sure if I will do more.

My son gets all his shots, but I feel it is wrong to make other parents give their kids what they don’t want to give them. Everyone is free to have their opinion and raise their children how they feel fit. Pushing your beliefs, any beliefs, on others is just wrong.
