Inside Fatherhood
Again welcome all to IF. The title of this site pretty much sums up what it is about. We will delve into the nitty-gritties of fatherhood and some of the things to expect as a dad. For those soon to be entering the “hood of fathers” this place can be real helpful. Where I am a Stay at Home Dad I will be touching a lot on my own experiences and a lot of my focus will be the challenges we face as what some people call a “role-reversal”.
We will educate ourselves on the stereotypes we face and learn that it is NOT a role-reversal but a paradigm shift in parenting. Ask any SAHD and he will tell you things like, “If it is a true role-reversal why do I still take out the trash, mow the lawn, fix the sink, paint the house, and drive when we are a family?”
So overcoming those stereotypes is a process of educating people about who us SAHDs really are.
I have a collection of writings of what other Stay at Home Fathers are experiencing and I will be asking in the future for people to participate. For instance, I have asked people to send me the Best and Worst of being a SAHD. I will share them with you from time to time. If you would like to have a few words regarding the Best and the Worst experiences as a SAHD, please send them to me with your first name, city, how many kids you have, how long you have been a SAHD, and a link to a website if you have one.
Though I am sort of dedicating this blog to Stay at Home Dads we are still dads nonetheless. All dads have a lot in common so you will find helpful tips and conversations on simply being a dad.
And you moms out there, want to understand what goes through the minds of us dads? Of course you do. This place you will be able to better understand the issues that face dads and in the prcess become a better parent, wife, etc.
