How to Keep 50 Pounds Off Without Gaining it Back

by steve on July 6th, 2007

Let’s face it. We all can lose weight, but the trick is keeping that weight off. I tend to do the unhealthy thing and bounce around from season to season. I can lose up to 20 pounds in a season but then I gain some or all of it back 6 months down the road. So what’s the answer? Probably we already know the answer and that is just keep doing what you normally do when losing weight but ALL the time. Well of course. But it isn’t as easy as it may sound.

Well one dad, lost 50 pounds and is keeping it off. What’s his secret? I am not sure there is a secret but he posted an article this week on how he did it. It isn’t a fancy Atkins diet or Weight Watchers. He best describes it as this:

I have been maintaining my weight at 175 for over six months. What truly amazed me about the last two phases was how similar it is to other more accepted diets. I eat a lot of vegetables and lean meats, some fiber rich cereals, tortillas and whole grain breads as well as small quantities of fruit.

What I don’t do any more is sit down to half of a family size bag of tortilla chips, or a tube of Ritz crackers, or a plate full of spaghetti.

And you know how things can get. One afternoon you sit down with a tub of salsa and nacho cheese dip and you start plunging those deep fried tortillas down in there. You may sprinkle some cheese on, toss in some black olives for good measure. Those days really need to stop. Nothing wrong with a few but munching on them for the next 15-20 minutes is going to really pack on the weight.

Stop eating the crap America!

Sad but true. I am in that same spot and it’s not a good look. So I’ve decided (today) to do the “300 Workout” for all of July. I need to tone up anyway. Went for a brisk walk to day and had to sit down afterwards! So sad! Great blog and interesting posts, keep it up I just referred to the site at my blog. There should be more of this! :)

Hi Steve, thanks for visiting the blog. The 300 Workout is the workout they gave the cast of the film, or so the story goes.

Sorry, the last comment ended abruptly. So the 300 Workout is designed to “buff up” quickly I guess (I hope). I’m doing the 150 Workout which is for people in worse shape ;) The link is in my blog - not sure if I can add it here. Apparently, without any rest breaks, it only takes around 15 minutes - and that alone sounds good to me!
