Eddie Vedder, misquoted yet still angry
I’ve seen a lot of blogs ooh-ing and ahh-ing over Eddie Vedder’s recent quote that fatherhood “fueled his anger.” It makes for a great headline that makes him look like an angry person that hates kids.
You can’t be one of the figureheads of the Seattle grunge movement without a healthy amount of angst, but it’s not the sight of his three year old daughter that gets him seeing red. If you read a little further into the interview he states that he “saw the world as her world that they were [messing] with.” His anger is the result of concern for the world that his child will grow up in, not because he’s a child-hating ass.
“I’m trying to break any chain of negative parenting that I might have survived,” says Eddie. It’s a commendable thing that a famous person is legitimately concerned about their suitability as a parent and for their child’s future.

i think the interview shows how much eddie takes fatherhood seriously. Id imagine him to be a great father, let alone an amazinly cool dad to hang out with, learn from listen to. He is no dumb fool-we all know how shitty this world can be and all the expectations people put in place. Sounds to me like he wants to create a safe honest enviroment for his family. Good on him.
