Baby milestone - his first tooth!
Our son’s first tooth has just broken through his pink little gum line, with a second one not far behind. His gallons of drool, nights of screaming, ear tugging and fussiness have paid off. Only 18 more primary teeth to go!
While this is clearly a first for him, it’s also a first for us. One of the most significant parts of this experience is the realization that he is well down the path of being a little boy from being a baby. My wife’s reaction was as though he just left for his first date or we dropped him off for his freshman year of college. While her response was a little more emotional, I felt the same way. It’s strange how quickly kids seem to change, the mere concept of him with a fully dentally equipped mouth is Earth-shattering to me. He’s very close to crawling and he seems on the verge of saying several words, which is again a quantum leap. Thinking of him in high school would make my head explode.
Recognizing how quickly he changes makes me glad that we are able to spend as much time with him as we do. He means the world to us and experiencing his firsts is the most pure form of enjoyment I can imagine.
