He slept for 7 hours!

Major milestone, he slept for 7 whole, uninterrupted hours Saturday night. Consequently, we
slept for a 7 hour uninterrupted stretch, and it was amazing. My wife was the most energized and cheerful that I’ve seen her in at least six months.
Unfortunately, he then went back to a 4 hour maximum last night…. but now at least […]

Crucial lesson learned #2 - The importance of nail care

On of the first lessons my son taught me was to not hold him while wearing work clothing. He will puke on it. Apparently khakis are a magnet for baby spit-up, and really hold in that rich cheese flavor.
He taught me something new this weekend; the importance of nail care. Now that his grab reflex […]

The Week in Recalls 4/13 - 4/20

Here is a recap of the child-related product recalls from the Consumer Product Safety Commission between 4/13/08 and 4/20/08. All things considered, it was a relatively light week for child product recalls. Interestingly, one of the two CPSC recalls was a voluntary recall by Walmart, independent of the manufacturer.

Home sweet home

Last night was our first night back home after a week of living with my in-laws due to plumbing problems in our bathroom. It’s great to be back in our own bed again and we would have preferred not to go through all the hassle, but it reminded us of how lucky we are. In […]

Cellphone camera love

In-laws under siege, day 4

As we begin the 4th day of staying with our in-laws amidst our bathroom problems, there is an end in sight. I took a day off from work yesterday and worked on the bathroom and *hopefully* we’ll be able to sleep in our own bed again on Friday. My main concern with this whole […]

My current nightmare

So this is what my current predicament looks like.

What originally looked like a couple day proposition to get a working toilet back in the bathroom has not progressed as it should have. But nothing ever does.
No working bathroom + tired wife + baby who doesn’t sleep well + staying with in-laws […]

The importance of teaching your kids to spell

I saw this on my way to work the other morning. Don’t let your kid grow up to be the guy who made this sign, stress the importance of learning to spell.
“Billy, spell ‘ahead’.”
“Ahead. A - H - E -A - H. Ahead.”
“Sit down, Billy.”

Plumbing woes and baby gear grows

If you have had the pleasure of owning an older home, you know that things are prone to go wrong and are a major pain in the butt to fix. Our home is about 110 years old and for the most part in good shape. For the most part.
However last week a water leak in […]
